Privacy Policy
Paisano’s® (“Paisano’s,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy (this “Policy”) applies to paisanospizza.com, our online ordering sites, our mobile app, and our U.S. restaurants (collectively, our “Service”), and describes what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. It replaces our March 31, 2020 policy in full.
Many Paisano’s restaurants are independently owned and operated by franchisees. Where this Policy says we share information with “our restaurants,” that includes the franchisee that owns the location you interact with.
1. WHAT WE COLLECT
Information you give us
- Account and loyalty information. When you create an ordering account or join Paisano’s Rewards, we and our ordering provider collect your name, email address, phone number, password, favorite store, and your points and rewards activity.
- Order information. When you place an order we collect what you ordered, the store you ordered from, order type (delivery, pickup, curbside or catering), delivery address when you choose delivery, and any coupon or promo code you applied. Payment card details are collected and processed by our ordering and payment providers — Paisano’s marketing website never receives your full card number.
- Forms and messages. When you contact us or sign up through a form on our site — feedback, fundraising, e-club, food truck, nominations, or catering — we collect the information you enter, such as your name, email, phone number, preferred location, and your message.
- Job applications. When you apply for a job through our careers pages (in English or Spanish), we collect your contact details, the location you are applying to, and the resume you upload.
- Chat conversations. When you use the chat assistant on our sites, we collect the messages you send. See “Our AI chat assistant” below — it has its own section because we think you should know exactly how it works.
- Promotions and events. If you enter a sweepstakes, contest, or promotion (for example, game-day or team promotions), we collect the entry information you provide.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data. Like most websites, we and our analytics providers automatically collect your IP address, general location derived from it (city/region level), browser and device type, the pages you visit, the links you tap, and how you arrived at our site.
- Cookies and similar technologies. We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, measure how the site is used, and support advertising. Signing in sets secure, HTTP-only cookies that authenticate your session (including a refresh cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days). Analytics and advertising cookies are described in Section 4.
- Precise location (only if you allow it). If you use “find a location near me” features and grant your browser or device permission, we use your location once to find nearby stores. We do not track your location in the background.
Information from other sources
- Our ordering and loyalty provider. Our online ordering, accounts, loyalty program, and order history are operated with a restaurant-technology provider (FoodTec Solutions). We receive account and order information from that system to serve you — for example, to show your rewards balance or route your question to the right store.
- Social media and advertising platforms. If you interact with our pages or ads on platforms like Facebook or Instagram, those platforms may share engagement information with us subject to their own privacy policies.
In our restaurants
Our restaurants collect transaction information at the register, loyalty activity when you provide your phone number or scan the app, and may operate security cameras on premises for safety and loss prevention. Franchisee-owned locations are responsible for their own on-premises practices.
2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
- To take, prepare, and deliver your orders, and to run your account and rewards.
- To answer your questions and route your feedback or request to the right store and team.
- To consider your job application at the location you applied to.
- To send you marketing you signed up for — deals, rewards updates, and news — by email and text message. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link; reply STOP to any marketing text to opt out.
- To understand how our site is used so we can fix what’s broken and improve what isn’t — page performance, where visitors get stuck, which deals people actually use.
- To advertise Paisano’s, including showing you our ads on other platforms and measuring whether our ads work.
- To protect the Service — preventing spam, fraud, and abuse — and to comply with law.
We keep marketing separate from ordering: you do not need to receive marketing to order online, and opting out of marketing never affects your account or rewards.
3. OUR AI CHAT ASSISTANT
The chat bubble on our sites is an automated AI assistant, not a person. It answers questions about our menu, deals, locations, and rewards using information we publish. Because it is automated, it can occasionally be wrong — prices, hours, and offers are always confirmed at checkout.
Your conversations are processed by Anthropic, the AI provider that powers the assistant, acting as our service provider. Under our agreement, conversations are used to provide the service — not for the provider’s own advertising, and not to train its models. We keep chat transcripts (with a record of the page and device type they came from) so we can review quality and improve the assistant’s answers. Before storing, we automatically redact email addresses, phone numbers, and street addresses from transcripts. Please don’t share sensitive personal information in chat — the assistant never needs your payment details or passwords, and no legitimate message from us will ask for them there.
4. ANALYTICS, ADVERTISING, AND SESSION REPLAY
We manage measurement and advertising tags through Google Tag Manager. The providers we currently work with include:
- Microsoft Clarity — usage analytics and session replay. Clarity records how visitors interact with pages (taps, scrolling, movement between pages) so we can see where the site confuses people. It is designed to mask what you type into form fields.
- Google — tag management, measurement, and advertising services, plus Google Maps to power our store locator (Google collects location and usage signals per its own policy when the map loads).
- Meta (Facebook/Instagram) — advertising measurement and audience tools, so we can show Paisano’s ads to people likely to want pizza and know whether those ads led to orders.
- Other advertising and measurement partners — we may work with additional partners for campaign delivery and measurement from time to time. The categories of data involved are the device and usage data described above, never your payment details.
We do not sell your personal information for money. Some state laws treat allowing advertising cookies to collect data on our site as a “sale,” “share,” or “targeted advertising.” Section 7 explains how to opt out of that.
5. HOW WE SHARE INFORMATION
- With our restaurants. Your order goes to the store that makes it. Feedback, applications, and form submissions are routed to the relevant store’s management, including franchisee-owned stores.
- With service providers. Companies that run parts of the Service for us, under contracts that limit their use of your information to providing that service: our ordering/loyalty/payments platform (FoodTec Solutions), website hosting (Vercel), content and submission storage (Sanity), transactional email delivery (Resend), our AI provider (Anthropic), our gift card provider, and the analytics and advertising providers in Section 4.
- For legal reasons. If required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our customers, our team, or the public.
- In a business transfer. If Paisano’s or a portion of the business is acquired or reorganized, customer information may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.
We do not share your personal information with unrelated third parties for their own marketing.
6. HOW LONG WE KEEP INFORMATION
We keep personal information only as long as it is reasonably needed for the purposes above. In practice: account and loyalty information is kept while your account is active; order records are kept as needed for accounting and dispute handling; form submissions and chat transcripts are kept while they are useful for serving you and improving the Service; job applications are kept while a position is being filled and are deleted earlier on request. You can ask us to delete your information at any time — see Section 7.
7. YOUR CHOICES AND RIGHTS
Marketing choices
- Email: use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.
- Text messages: reply STOP to any marketing text.
- Cookies: your browser lets you block or delete cookies. Blocking essential cookies may break sign-in and ordering.
- Interest-based advertising: you can opt out through your device and platform settings (including Meta’s ad preferences) and industry tools at aboutads.info/choices and optout.networkadvertising.org.
State privacy rights
Depending on where you live — including Virginia and Maryland — you have the right to know what personal information we hold about you and get a copy, correct it, delete it, and opt out of targeted advertising and any “sale” of personal information as those laws define it. We do not use your personal information for profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
To exercise any of these rights, email info@paisanospizza.com with the request and the email address or phone number you’ve used with us — we verify requests against the contact details already on file, and we may ask a follow-up question to confirm it’s you. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf with proof of authorization. We will respond within the time your state’s law requires, and we will never treat you differently for exercising your rights.
If we decline a request, you can appeal by replying to our response with “Appeal” in the subject line. If your appeal is denied, Virginia residents may contact the Virginia Attorney General and Maryland residents may contact the Maryland Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division.
Do Not Track and opt-out signals
Our sites do not currently respond automatically to “Do Not Track” browser signals. If your browser sends an opt-out preference signal such as Global Privacy Control, you can make the same opt-out effective by emailing info@paisanospizza.com, and we will honor it.
8. SECURITY
We use industry-standard safeguards: all traffic to our sites is encrypted (HTTPS with HSTS), sign-in uses secure HTTP-only cookies, our content and submission storage is private and access-controlled, and payment card processing is handled by our payment providers rather than our website. No online service can promise perfect security, but we design so that a problem in one place exposes as little as possible.
9. CHILDREN
Our Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, email info@paisanospizza.com and we will delete it.
10. LINKS AND OTHER SITES
Ordering pages on our store subdomains run on our ordering provider’s platform, and gift cards and franchising run on separate sites with their own terms. Links to social media and other third-party sites lead to services governed by their own privacy policies, which we don’t control.
11. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
When we change this Policy in a material way, we will update the “last modified” date above and, for significant changes, post a notice on our site. Your continued use of the Service after a change means the updated Policy applies.
12. CONTACT US
Questions, requests, or concerns about privacy: email info@paisanospizza.com, or write to us at Paisano’s Pizza, Attn: Privacy, 4078 Airline Pkwy, Chantilly, VA 20151. You can also reach any of our stores directly through paisanospizza.com/store-locations/.
